Past professional skills areas have included Lean and A3 thinking, product management, public speaking, problem identification and resolution, effective listening, embracing and leveraging the strengths of a diverse workforce, effectively providing and receiving feedback, creating and leading effective teams, and effective situational communication. Our outstanding leadership speakers challenge our mentees to grow attributes like confidence, courage, self-awareness, flexibility, inclusivity, empathy, resourcefulness, and creativity.

Mandy Terrill, currently serving as the Associate Chief Information Officer for Research at UCSF. With a rich background in business analysis, project management, and the oversight of software development lifecycles, Mandy has been managing and leading IT teams at various levels since 2009. Her professional journey includes directing Project Management Offices at both statewide and institutional levels, where she spearheaded the implementation of diverse infrastructures and numerous state wide projects and programs. Mandy’s leadership extended to serving as the director of an advanced computing center and research applications systems. In this role, she was responsible for building and maintaining research systems tailored for academic medical institutes and supporting robust research infrastructures. Mandy’s commitment to fostering team building and collaboration is a cornerstone of her management philosophy, which she views as essential to the success of any organization. Her extensive experience also encompasses collaborating with faculty on several significant research projects and system implementations across state and national boundaries, further highlighting her comprehensive expertise in enhancing research capabilities through innovative IT solutions. Rick Larsen is the Director of Research Informatics at UCSF. At UCSF Rick leads the development and support of research data assets and analytic tools that support UCSF’s research mission. Rick has spent his career working as a healthcare technology professional. Over the past 30 years Rick has worked for software vendors leading the development of EHR, clinical trial and research informatics solutions. Prior to UCSF Rick was the Chief Information Officer for Health Sciences South Carolina (HSSC) where he oversaw the informatics and development teams to provide solutions that addressed the research requirements for HSSC and the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). At HSSC Rick lead the development of the nation's first state-wide biomedical research collaborative. Prior to HSCC, Rick served as Director Of Application Development and Integration at Blue Shield of CA where he led the development to replace core information systems, including claims processing, membership, provider networks and health insurance products. Previously, Rick was co-founder and Vice President of Software Development at Fast Track Systems, a clinical trials software company. Rick also served as VP of Software Development at Oacis Health Care Systems, leading the development of Electronic Medical Record (EMR) solutions used by hospitals across the US, Canada. |

Erik Wieland is the Associate Director for Enterprise Digital and Web Solutions, Enterprise Systems, UCSF IT. Erik started his career at UCSF in 1997, providing desktop and phone support to the Department of Medicine. After administering servers, developing websites, and managing operations, he became IT Services Director in 2006. He joined UCSF IT in 2013 and acted as a customer engagement manager and solutions architect before becoming an application and product manager. In 2015 Erik helped found the Tech LDP and has been a co-chair and a mentor for the program. Erik has a deep and abiding interest in professional development and mentorship. He is a graduate of and an advisor to the School of Medicine Leadership Development Program. He serves on the Administrative Management Professionals Mentorship Committee and is a member of the IT DEI Champions Team. He has spoken on the topics of professional development, networking, staff career management, and strategic technology partnerships to conferences and groups across the U.S. Alissa Porter is the Director of Clinical Applications. She joined UCSF in 2008, starting as a practice manager and then joining the APeX team in 2010. She's used StrengthsFinder for many years to help grow her team's capabilities and enhance professional development. |

Jenn Chan serves as Senior Manager for the UCSF Program Management providing leadership to a team of consultant-coaches who work on continuous improvement (CI) initiatives and projects. As consultant/coach/program manager, she enjoys supporting leaders and departments to leverage Lean as a philosophy and management system to support people's development while solving problems and fostering and building a CI culture. Jenn has been working at UCSF for over 15 years, with prior experience at the SF Department of Public Health and local community-based organizations. Berna Declet is a Program Manager, Lean Practitioner and Coach with the UCSF Program Management Office. Prior to joining UCSF in 2019, Berna worked in biotech and pharmaceutical companies as a facilitator and project manager for continuous improvement . At UCSF, she enjoys facilitating and teaching the Lean Learning Program courses such as Lean Fundamentals, coaching teams for Value Improvement (VI) and Active Daily Engagement (ADE), and supporting teams who are implementing process improvement projects and change management. |

Joe R. Bengfort is enterprise chief information officer for UCSF and senior vice president of information technology (IT) for UCSF Health. He is also an associate vice chancellor for UCSF. His responsibilities include IT strategy and operations for UCSF Health; and IT research, education and administrative systems; data and analytics; and infrastructure, customer support services and security for UCSF. He represents UCSF on IT initiatives at the University of California. Before joining UCSF in 2011, Bengfort worked for 22 years at Perot Systems, where he held a broad range of senior leadership positions; his duties included managing client relationships and service delivery at Parkland Memorial Hospital, Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford, Triad Hospitals and Stanford Health Care. He has a bachelor's degree in electronic engineering technology from Texas A&M University. Heidi Collins is the Vice President of Health IT Operations at UCSF Health. Her expertise centers on modernizing healthcare technology teams, enhancing strategic partnerships, and fostering a culture of belonging and development across 600 Health IT team members working with 18,000 operations staff. Previously, Heidi managed clinical and business information systems at UCSF Health and led significant IT implementations across UCSF Health and its affiliates. Before UCSF, she was the CFO and VP of Operations at Nantucket Cottage Hospital, where she reduced operating costs by 20% and significantly boosted physician recruitment. Heidi holds an MPH from Yale University and a BS from UCLA. She actively contributes to UC systemwide initiatives and anti-racism efforts in technology and serves on Salesforce’s Health Cloud Product Advisory Council. In her free time, Heidi coaches youth sailing. |

Sara Murray, MD, MAS, is Vice President, Chief Health AI Officer for UCSF Health. She also serves as Associate Chief Medical Information Officer for Inpatient Care at UCSF Health. She is Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine and Associate Chief for Health System Partnerships in the Division of Clinical Informatics and Digital Transformation (DoC-IT). Dr. Murray is a strategic health system leader for informatics, digital health, and data science. Her team builds infrastructure and governance processes to ensure the deployment of impactful and ethical AI, evaluates commercially available tools and algorithms for trustworthiness prior to implementation, and develops new machine learning models to address pressing health system problems. She is responsible for the overall vision and strategy for the use of AI at scale to transform healthcare delivery at UCSF Health and beyond. She spends her clinical time attending on the hospital medicine service. Dr. Marc Kohli is a radiologist who interprets imaging studies, including those produced through CT, MRI, and ultrasound, with a particular focus on diseases of the abdomen and pelvis. He also serves as director of clinical informatics (scientific data processing and analysis with the goal of improving health care) for the UCSF Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging. In research, Dr. Kohli is focused on improving the information systems that UCSF providers and patients use, including MyChart. He also studies artificial intelligence (AI), with a focus on ethics and applying AI techniques to improve patient care. Dr. Kohli earned his medical degree at Indiana University School of Medicine, where he also completed a residency in radiology and a fellowship in abdominal imaging and medical informatics. Joseph "Joe" Owens, PhD is a Senior Product Manager. Joe brings his deep clinical research and scientific training along with his array of experiences across Fortune 100 technology, professional services, and healthcare companies to his role as a Digital Product Manager focused on reinventing the Digital Patient Experience for UCSF. Joe owns a Doctorate of Neuroscience from Northwestern University, a Certificate in Management for Scientists and Engineers from the Kellogg School of Management, and a Bachelors of Engineering from Vanderbilt University. |

Sian Shumway - more info coming Linda Branagan, PhD is the Director of Virtual Care at UCSF. She joined UCSF in 2014 as the founding Director of Telehealth. Her team and she have implemented programs for ambulatory video visits, ambulatory asynchronous care, online remote second opinions, and inpatient care both within UCSF hospitals and clinics and with our affiliates. Linda finds it very exciting to see UCSF go from a health system that did not do virtual care at all to being a leader in the field, especially among academic medical centers. Paul S. Axelrod PhD is a leadership consultant, facilitator, and coach. As a Learning and Organization Development Consultant at UCSF, Paul brings a people-centered, integrative approach to developing performance excellence and competence. Paul also holds an adjunct faculty position in the University of San Francisco’s McLaren School of Management, where he teaches courses in organizational behavior. Paul graduated with a BA in Political Science from the University of California at Berkeley and holds a doctorate in Political Science from the University of Washington. He also holds certifications in Integral Coaching and Gallup Strengths Coaching. |

Allison Larsen, has been an integral part of UCSF since 2019. She holds the title of IT Chief of Staff and Director of IT Operations & Strategy within the Information Technology department. In her current role, Allison partners with senior IT and UCSF mission leaders to design and deliver programs that optimize the IT division's resources and impact. Her efforts support UCSF's top priorities across health, research, and education. Allison is responsible for assessing and improving existing programs while initiating new ones in support of the AVC/CIO's agenda. She leads the Office of the CIO, encompassing IT Administration, IT Finance, IT Communications, IT PMO, and IT Portfolio Management teams, all contributing to these overarching objectives. Mary Beth Saddoris is the Director of UCSF IT Communications. Mary Beth leads UCSF IT Communications as part of the Office of the CIO. She and her team aim to provide clear, timely, relevant information that empowers IT organization staff, stakeholders, and customers to perform their work with clarity, purpose, and pride around its connection to the UCSF mission and community at large. Mary Beth has worked in technology for nearly 30 years and loves being part of a progressive culture of innovation and transformation. |
